WIP Wednesday- I ♥ Quilting

I’ve been quilting the Stephen Fry quilt! OK so I started it after 9pm as I had about half an hour of handstitching the odd binding slip and also the gap where I turned it out so there’s only about an hour’s work here but it’s coming together quite quickly. This is the first time I’ve done the dogwood pattern and I actually enjoy it- I probably shouldn’t have done my wobbly first attempt on a show quilt but I can’t afford any longarm jobs at the minute so it will have to do. I’m not expecting to win anything anyway!

ikea fabrics

Here’s a picture of some fabrics currently at Ikea. I can not confirm how I came across these, but lets just say this is the reason I didn’t start quilting til 9pm… These will be great quilt and cushion backs once I’ve run out of my vintage stuff. The black and white fabric is for bindings.

Lastly I just received my partner in Imagine Gnats’ Covert Robin swap. I totally forgot I put my name down for this so I’m going to do some stalking of my partner today. It’s a free and easy swap- basically make anything you like value around $20-30 within the month of March, then link up a blog post in April and there’s a chance to win prizes on top of that- it’s win-win! The criteria is handmade, so who’s to say I will even sew my gift? Anyone else put their name down for it?

Good Luck with the quilting, going great guns so far! I think you forgot to post your other fabrics, and you know how nosey I am, so pop a photo up! :o). Your swap sounds good, I’m in the handprinted swap with rachel at imagine gnats, small world this quilting malarkey.

I find the dogwood and orange peel quilting to go fast as well, and also very forgiving. I just finished some orange peel quilting on a triangle quilt, I never get tired of the pattern! Good luck showing your quilt!

the quilting looks lovely to me. Surely if someone enters a quilt in a show, they should have quilted it themselves??
