British Patchwork and Quilting

The current issue of British Patchwork and Quilting features my Dahlia Cushion pattern. I made it a while ago but it makes sense to show it now. It features a pillowcase style closure with binding and circle applique. And it will double up nicely as a Christmas present too.

A Finish: Hadley Doughnuts

My Hadley quilt plan became a large cushion. It just felt right not to make too many of these, and the fact I got to stash most of the fabrics again had absolutely nothing to do with it of course… The background is Kona Natural I think, and it uses a mixture of techniques. Firstly, […]

Horseplay cushion

So after showing you a tiny picture of the cushion in Quilt Now, Sara thankfully reminded me that I hadn’t blogged about it at all (I’m so used to magazines where I feel I can reveal all before publication, then I don’t forget)! This is my large feature cushion called Horseplay (named by OH). I […]

Francoise – part 1

May I introduce you to my new (almost finished) Francoise dress? The pattern is Francoise by Tilly and the Buttons, and I submitted it 10 minutes before the deadline for the competition last night. I am exhausted and I need to adjust the back. I also need an invisible zip foot and to redo the […]

Progress this weekend

On Friday morning I made this little guy for a package I put together for a little girl that’s just become a big sister. The pattern is from the current issue of Love Patchwork and Quilting. Whilst I rarely make things from magazines (I just tend to read the articles), this was very tempting as […]

iPhone Inspired Cushion

I managed another finish from my Q1 list this weekend, my cushion… Inspired by this icon on my phone… It’s made with EPP, I clipped and glued the curves like I would with applique pieces but to the paper on the underside and then pulled the paper out after sewing it to the background, by […]

Small stuff finished

I’ve made a few little things this past week. Firstly I have this purse and three fat quarters inside for a secret santa swap on the Popular Patchwork forum… I also started this embroidery for Kirsty about 9 months ago after her dog Taz died. She has had a baby during this time. There wasn’t […]

Cushion Complete

Well that’s my “Lovely Year of Finishes” project out of the way! I finished up the cushion for my MIL and although it’s a bit wonky (I didn’t unpick that seam and it wasn’t very square) I think she’ll like it. So here are the obligatory photos…

A little less procrastination a little more action please

Last night and yesterday morning I did A LOT of sewing. It makes up for napping under four of my quilts for the middle part of the afternoon I think. Firstly I almost finished the applique job, but got bored so I moved on… I made this improvised patchwork cushion in the morning from some […]

Tutorial: Cushion Pads

When you make a cushion, chances are you want an inner with a removable cover so it can be washed. Why spend a fiver on a cushion pad when you can make your own? This tutorial is pretty self explanatory, and can be adapted to different shapes and sizes. I’m going to give you details […]
